MTS Ukraine (now operating under Vodafone brand) reached an agreement with “Ukrtelekom” to buy its 3G-operator brand “Trimob” that belongs to Rinat Akhmetov. The closing of the transaction is planned during 1H 2016. The first negotiations to buy Trimob back in 2011 produced a UAH 3 billion price tag as was requested by “Ukrtelekom”. Current price is somewhat different - some sources speculate around USD 100 million.

According to the unofficial information from Moscow, the equipment suppliers have already started to evaluate Trimob’s equipment. MTS does not confirm the transaction calling it rumors.

Trimob was registered in 2011 as mobile operator and telecommunication services provider. In 2014 “Trimob” serviced 800 000 subscribers throughout Ukraine.

At 2015YE MTS Ukraine covered 19 regional centers of Ukraine with its 3G service. Overall MTS mobile network covers 98% of all Ukraine territory.
