The Turkish telecommunication company Turkcell signed an agreement on purchasing 44.96% of shares of the Ukrainian SCM Group in the Eurasia Telecommunications Holding BV (Netherlands), which owns 100% of the LLCAstelit - the Ukrainian mobile network operator life:).
This was announced in the statement of the Turkish wireless carrier at the Istanbul Stock Exchange on Friday, Ukrrudprom informs.
The cost of the share of SCM in the mobile network operator Astelit constituted USD 100 mln. In addition, debts of the company Astelit secured by the warranty of the SCM Group will be extinguished, and guarantee agreements of which the SCM Group was a party will be terminated, releasing the SCM Group from its obligations under these agreements.
TTurkcell also started negotiations about purchasing the 3G-division of Ukrtelecom - Trimob. The transaction is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2015.
The net profit of Astelit grew 17.7%, up to UAH1.059 bln, and its EBITDA increased by 13.8%, up to UAH 327.5 mln in the first quarter of 2015 in comparison to the same period of the previous year. At the same time, the net loss of Astelit for this period grew 2.8 times, up to UAH 5.63 bln. The amount of active subscribers grew 10.8% in 2015, constituting 10.3 mln.
