It has become known that the owner of the agricultural holding KSG Agro, Sergey Kasiyanov, and Varus chain negotiate on merging the chains Spar and Bekono (about 20 outlets) with Varus chain, the co-owner of Varus, Ruslan Shostak, told the "Capital". All Spar stores will be renamed to Varus, and Sergey Kasiyanov will receive a share in the management company "Omega" in return.

Merging with Spar will allow Varus to enter the market in Kiev, said Ruslan Shostak. According to him, at the moment Varus chain has 35 outlets located in Dnepropetrovsk, Donetsk, Krivoy Rog, Dneprodzerzhinsk, Nikopol and so forth.

Spar is a major international supermarket chain which has 33 supermarkets throughout Ukraine.

LLC "Omega" was established in 2000. The first Varus supermarket was opened in 2003 in Dnepropetrovsk. By the end of 2010 the Varus chain has added six retail properties and began to manufacture products under its own trademark. As of December 25, 2013 Varus chain has 33 stores with total retail space of about 41,000 square meters.
